Hansgrohe has reached a significant milestone in its sustainability journey. In November 2024, the company was awarded the prestigious Platinum Medal from EcoVadis, the highest recognition possible for sustainability performance. This accolade places Hansgrohe in the top 1% of the 130,000 companies assessed worldwide by the renowned platform.
Decades of Commitment to Sustainability
Hansgrohe’s dedication to sustainability dates back to 1968, with the introduction of the first water-saving hand shower. Over the years, the company has continued to innovate, launching eco-friendly technologies such as EcoSmart®, CoolStart®, and PowderRain®.
These initiatives are part of Hansgrohe's larger goal of offering only water- and energy-saving products by 2030. In 2020, Hansgrohe established its Green Company Team to expand its focus on Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) goals. This team has driven the company’s participation in global sustainability platforms like EcoVadis, which began assessing Hansgrohe in 2021.
What the Platinum Medal Means
The EcoVadis Platinum Medal reflects Hansgrohe's comprehensive sustainability management and longstanding commitment to protecting the environment. It recognizes the company’s efforts to integrate eco-friendly practices across its operations and products.
“This achievement underscores Hansgrohe’s dedication to balancing innovation with the well-being of our planet,” said a company spokesperson. “While we are proud to receive this honor, we remain steadfast in our commitment to pursuing ambitious sustainability goals.”
Looking Ahead Hansgrohe is actively working to reduce its scope 3 emissions (those generated throughout its supply chain) and invites customers and partners to collaborate in achieving this shared goal. The company remains focused on developing products and solutions that not only save water and energy but also promote a sustainable future.
