“People need water, not faucets” Jean-Marie Massaud stated when describing the approach he took during his first bathroom design project. This highlights his design credo. Inspired by nature, his designs seem to work without any technology. The bathroom collection from the French architect and designer also evokes images from nature and focuses on a connection to the natural world. A waterfall over the sink, a mussel-like bathtub, shower water falling from a cloud – the natural element of water provides a true sensual experience.
Massaud’s nature-inspired design releases him from conventional style rules. His extraordinary architectural visions highlight the full breadth of his creativity. His largest artistic project to date is a soccer stadium in Mexico, which is shaped like a volcano in true Massaud style. In his Axor Massaud bathroom collection, the faucets and bathroom objects are both poetic and avant-garde, fun and highly functional.
Axor Massaud – inspired by nature
The faucet body evokes a blade of grass, the gush spray becomes a waterfall and the bathtub a lake. A collection for all nature lovers. Axor Massaud responds to the yearning desire for harmony. Leave hectic everyday life behind and immerse yourself in nature.
Jean-Marie Massaud – the biography
Jean-Marie Massaud was born in 1966 in the southern France city of Toulouse, a center of high-tech industry but also a gateway to the sensuous South. It is therefore only natural that despite studying at Les Ateliers University for Industrial Design in Paris, this powerful draw has influenced his designs, which are continually shaped by forms from nature. Furniture items for major furnishing brands such as Cassina combine a strict grid pattern with organic forms. Massaud is opposed to what he calls “decadent” design, which focuses all its energy on “styling”: design should create better living spaces and help people relax. This opinion was made clear in 2005 through Massaud’s personal vision of the bathroom of the future, which he realized with Axor in his WaterDream.
